Empowering every person with Type 1 Diabetes to live freely, confidently, and healthily — through care, awareness, and advocacy.
Tamil Nadu Type 1 Diabetes Foundation (TNT) is a volunteer-driven non-profit founded by people living with Type 1 Diabetes and their families. What began in 2018 as a small peer group of 4 families is today a community of 800+ members across 8 cities.
We work closely with medical professionals, hospitals and government bodies to ensure better care, free insulin access, education and emotional support for T1D children and adults.
Peer circles, family support, emotional guidance, mentoring and school counselling.
Free insulin, medical camps, hospital partnerships and treatment support.
School programs, public awareness drives, government advocacy and global representation.
What began in 2018 as a small peer group of 4 families in Chennai grew from a shared belief that no one with Type 1 Diabetes should walk alone. These early gatherings laid the foundation for the community that TNT is today.
By 2020, TNT expanded to 8 cities across Tamil Nadu, organizing T1D education workshops, school awareness sessions, fitness events, and support-group meetups that strengthened family confidence.
TNT signed a landmark MoU with the National Health Mission — establishing India’s **first state-level T1D Registry**, and advancing free insulin access for children and youth across Tamil Nadu.
TNT represented India at the IDF Congress (Bangkok) and global advocacy forums, sharing Tamil Nadu’s model of community-led support and policy collaboration on the world stage.
We believe that every person living with Type 1 Diabetes in Tamil Nadu deserves access to treatment, support and a community that understands. Together, we create a world where living with T1D is not a limitation.
